Woke up in Benson, Arizona and walked out to pack up the car and had this view:
Got on the road and put this kid to work:
Arrived at Saguaro National Park:
These huge, beautiful specimens only grow naturally here in the Sonoran Desert.
I call these guys the Three Graces!
There's water down there!
We pulled ourselves away (after getting another Junior Ranger Badge! :)) and while winding our way through looking for 10West we passed Davis-Monathan Air Force base. There were rows and rows of retired planes lined up.
Stopped to feed some animals at this HILARIOUS place called Rooster Cogbirn's Ostrich farm west of Tucson. There was so much more than ostriches!
Jack asses. What? They're donkeys. :)
Many of the highway overpasses in AZ are decorated:
Stopped in Tempe, home of the Arizona State Sun Devils, for lunch. NOTHING is where I left it twenty years ago!
Road weary traveller!
Tiny traffic jam to get us antsy.
Paused in Indio for quick bite.
And then this greeting:
I was too excited and too wrapped around an eleven year-old girl to document any more last night. I got this stuff this morning after a blissful night of sleeping in my own bed.
There aren't words to describe the gratitude I feel after having experienced these many beautiful things and with the two cherished people I spent them with... But give me a few days - I might think of something. xo
